Change of direction

By admin | December 24, 2007

I’ve been writing articles off and on about health and fitness. Most of the stuff has been written as a joke, a mockery of my situation as a fat and unhealthy person. I do have all the right ideas and methods on getting into shape but all along I’ve struggled myself. I have a clue where to start and to reach my goal, but I have no clue what to do in between. Of course it’s all about consistency but that’s where my problem is. It’s the inconsistency between the beginning of my goal and the end.

I guess the question is, should getting into shape be a goal in the first place? I’m realizing now that it shouldn’t be. Being healthy, in shape and informed isn’t something we should strive to achieve. Instead, it should be implemented into the core of our daily lives. This is why so many of us lose weight and then gain twice as much back. This “goal” setting mentality should be left behind. We need to instead start realizing that our life is composed of many things including being healthy and in shape in order for us to be proper human beings.

We need to eat and drink to survive, work to earn money, exercise to stay fit and so on. Nothing in this world holds any value if we didn’t have our health. The fact is, the richest of the rich among us would give up all his wealth just so the privilege to breath isn’t taken away even for 2 minutes. Why is it that we take our health for granted? We work like hamsters daily without giving any consideration to our health. This is a question to myself mostly. As I am overweight and unhealthy. I work long hours, late nights and try to impress the people around me by doing their job on timely basis. Yet I forget about myself and my health and sadly I sometimes forget that I have a family. This can’t be my life and if you’re the same, it shouldn’t be yours either.

Let’s snap out from this slavery. We need our health back, we need our energy back, our family back. We need to ask ourselves our purpose as human beings, as Fathers, Mothers, sons and daughters. We need to be informed of the world around us and understand our role as citizens and human beings as a whole. The corporate world has occupied our lives with so much distraction by overworking us, draining our energy and courage so we don’t challenge them. As a result we’ve become bunch of fat asses whose only thoughts are what and where to eat next!

We’re being fed garbage literally. Whether it’s from junk food or from the media, the fact is we’re being stuffed with all kinds of $hit and honestly I am tired of it all. Let’s wake up and strive to gain back our self-respect like we had on the day we were born. We came into this life with a purpose, do you know what your purpose in life is? Surely it’s not over eating, over working and having a heart attack at the end.
