New Year Goals

People are just so damn stupid. How can anyone set a specific date to start out a whole new life style such as working out, eating right or paying more attention in school or work just by a change of date?? Why do people lie and to themselves so much? What makes us think that we will change all our bad habits just by a flip of a calendar page? Didn’t we do this last year? Didn’t we promise ourselves the same old garbage and yet couldn’t resist stuffing our face with unhealthy desert or late night mayonnaise sandwiches?
If we really wanted change in our lives and get into shape physically, mentally and professionally then we have to start being honest to ourselves. We’ve made a mockery of promises by continuously breaking it. What kind of a lesson do we teach our children? That just by announcing a special time and day, all our problems will go away? No!! that’s not how we should live our lives.
We need to build ourselves from ground up. We need to look ourselves in the mirror, straight into our hearts and get in sync with our soul. Being honest to ourselves is the beginning. By asking ourselves what is it that we want and why and how do we go about achieving it is much more sincere than mindlessly promising ourselves something that is impossible to achieve just because the date changed.

The problem is even deeper, as we look at diet programs and plans. They set the same presumptions as annual resolutions.
The presumption that somehow we will now stick to something, and that once we are “done” we can return back the way how we were.
