In comparison to previous generations, today’s society is by far the busiest and unfortunately, most overweight. Due to the convenience of fatty fast food establishments and calorie packed quick snacks as well as the hassle of finding time to go to the gym, our society has packed on the pounds without even noticing. If you work a desk or office job that keeps you tethered to your chair for the majority of the day, it’s quite easy to gain weight due to your unintentional stationary position throughout the day. But rejoice! Here is a way to burn calories at work without even leaving your desk. Below are 5 tips for the busy individual to utilize in cutting some calories and potentially some pounds all the while at work.

Tapping or Bouncing Your Legs

Seriously, you can burn quite a significant amount of calories while performing this task even while at your desk. A study at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Minnesota has shown that one can burn over 350 calories a day just by bouncing their legs up and down! That’s the equivalent of running three and a half miles a day in terms of calories burned. Try it out for yourself and reap the rewards of a healthier body and more toned legs and calves.

Chew Gum

Another unexpected, yet tried and true method of burning calories with minimum input. Although you won’t crank out the burned calories as quickly as you would with tip 5, Dan Benardot, Ph.D., R.D., author of Nutrition for Serious Athletes, has stated that you can burn 11 calories per hour by simply chewing gum. In an 8 hour work day that’s almost 90 calories and if you combine that with Tip 5 you are almost up to 450 calories per day already.

Take the Stairs

Unless you work in a one story building, your place of employment has stairs. Although you probably opt for the elevator everyday, taking the stairs is a quick 5 minute way to whisk away anywhere from 50-100+ calories per day. The average person burns 10 calories a minute or 50 calories per 5 minute period of stair climbing and slightly less for descending. So go ahead and take the stairs for a week and not only will you burn some calories but you will get in some aerobic exercise as well.

Ditch the morning coffee (or not)

Coffee is almost a given for anyone who wants to not only make it to work but actually get their work accomplished sufficiently as well but the downside to this is that drinking the magical energy elixir is bound to silently add some girth to your frame over time. Your average 16 ounce cup of coffee wit all the sugar, creme, and milk bells and whistles can easily top 200 calories and 10 grams of fat. So why not change up your recipe and see if you notice a change! Unbeknownst to most people, a cup of black coffee with no additives contains zero fat and only 2 calories so give black coffee a chance and watch the weight melt away gradually. If you can’t stand black coffee, try fat free or reduced calorie creamers and milk instead.

Join your employer’s fitness club

In today’s day and age most employers offer free or discounted fitness clubs, support groups or gyms in order to save on healthcare costs, so why not join yours? By utilizing this tool you can gain access to valuable nutritional information, personal trainer help, as well as a plethora of other services. Combine this tool with the aforementioned tips and you could be on the way to gratifying weight loss and overall good health.

In summation, by taking advantage of the above mentioned 5 tips for losing weight and attaining good health while at work, you can easily burn an extra 700+ calories per day without interfering with your already hectic daily schedule. When you note that 1 pound of fat takes 3500 calories to burn off, it becomes obvious that burning 700 per day in a 5 day work week will help you shed an easy pound a week or 50+ pounds a year!

There is an old proverb that says that “it is easier to tear down a house than to build it up” and although that may be the case majority of the time, if that house is your body and the construction material is fat-the opposite is true. We all know just how hard it is to lose weight but what a lot of people aren’t aware of is just how easy it is to gain or retain weight. The friendly guru’s at ShapeUpAmerica are here to help so don’t start panicking, as we have collected 5 sneaky little behaviors or ways that are contributing to your inability to wear those pants you keep trying on.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Your body has this handy little hormone that it secretes through the adrenal glands known as Cortisol. Now cortisol can have its beneficial effects, such as increased immunity and momentary bursts in metabolism and energy among other things but on the flip side it can also make you and keep you fat due to stress. When you are stressed out Cortisol turns into your worst enemy as it can cause deep plunges in metabolism, cravings for fatty, sugary and salty foods, as well as a higher chance of abdominal fat storage. In other words, stress causes you to eat bad food, prevents you from burning it, and then conveniently stores it in the worst place possible-your abdomen.

Eating Makes You Skinny

I know this sounds paradoxical in nature but ironically it is true to an extent. Your body is a stickler for daily routines so when you alter your eating habits or outright skip a meal it makes your body cranky. It is imperative that you eat throughout the day albeit wisely utilizing healthy filling meals and snacks. Did you know that following a meal, your metabolism increases by upwards of 30% for two hours following that meal? This is one of the main reasons you shouldn’t skip breakfast as it is that first meal of the day that kick starts your metabolism for the day. So don’t forget to eat regularly so as to keep your body happy and your metabolism running efficiently.

Drinking Fruit Juice Isn’t the Same as Eating Fruit

Naturally one would assume that if eating fruit is good for you, then drinking it must be just as good for you right? Wrong. Fruit juices are notorious for containing insane amounts of fructose, a substance that contains a lot of calories and also prevents your body from feeling full when you eat. Our brain has a disconnect when it comes to liquid calories as it doesn’t realize that whether it’s a 16 oz cup of concentrated orange juice or a ham sandwich, you are still getting the same amount of calories and subsequently these liquid calories fail to satisfy the hunger receptors in your brain that are looking for caloric energy. With that being said, instead of opting for that apple or orange juice that is actually mainly concentrated fruit juice and filtered water, get the real thing! Bite into an actual apple or orange as they both supply the body with copious amounts of much needed nutrients while simultaneously calming hunger cravings.

Lay Off the Booze

Alcohol makes you fat, plain and simple. Just as we stated in tip 3, your brain doesn’t respond well to liquid calories, so those 175 calories that are in your 12 ounce beer end up causing all kinds of problems. For instance, when you consume alcohol, your body actually takes some of the calories and turns them directly into fat and then the liver turns the rest of the calories into a compound known as acetate, which it then pumps into the bloodstream to be used as energy. The problem here is that although your body is burning those calories it turned into acetate; it stored those other calories as fat and doesn’t plan on using them anytime soon. To make things worse, some people carry a gene that causes alcohol to be stored as belly fat regardless of whether or not you eat healthy and work out.

Air Conditioning

Yes, I said air conditioning. Believe it or not, being comfortable is keeping you fat as just like your house-your body has mechanisms for keeping you comfortable. When you are hot your body will perspire to cool you down and when you are cold it will raise your metabolism and twitch some muscles to warm you up. So when you keep your AC or heat at that “perfect temperature” you are actually preventing your body from needing to regulate itself and in essence losing out on some free burned calories. In the winter, drop the temperature down a degree or two less than normal and I promise you that your body will compensate and the same is true with the AC in the summer as your body is very good at adapting.

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, 5 ways that you are unknowingly either packing on pounds or retaining them. Heed the advice in this article and you will have an easier time dropping those extra pounds you accumulated by being stressed out, intoxicated, and comfortable at home.

Every time I see an infomercial on this crap, I feel like puking violently and then climbing on the TV and take a big dump on it. In other words, it upsets me that these type of products even get a spot on TV. Ahhh well, there are many stupid people out there and sadly these products are being sold and the people who sell them are getting rich.

I’ve put together a list of fitness equipments that’s just plain stupid and anyone who even thought for a second of getting them is also stupid.

The Hawaiin Chair

Look how they convince you with their phony expressions on how great this product is!

Lady: “Oh My GOSH THIS IS AMAZING!”

Dufos: “IT IS GREAT ON MY ABS!”

Lady again: “I JUST REALLY FEEL THIS WORKING!! AHAHAHAH”

Are you kidding me?!!

Body Blade

To improve your golf swing? To maintain a healthy lifestyle? What the heck is this crap?!!

Osim iGallop

This one is almost pornographic so I won’t put any video of that sort on this website. This is yet another example of using pretty girls with great bodies to sell something so stupid and useless. Many fools will probably buy this thing…

Ab Tronic

This is another garbage patch that you put around your waist and turn it on. While it’s on, it makes you feel like your burning fat and toning your muscles. In reality, it’s vibration is actually laughter at your stupidity for buying it.

Are there others? Yes hundreds but what’s the point of listing them all, pretty much everything that is shown on infomercials is crap. Don’t buy any fitness equipment from TV. Just get your ass out of the house and start running.

If you like working out using equipment, pay $15/month at your local gym and go exercise there. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should pay a dime for these kinds of products.

Everyone wants a tight, toned tummy but few of us were genetically gifted a six-pack. Fortunately, we all do have abs—they’re just covered up! It’s in your power to create a sexy, sculpted stomach, even if it’s not in your genes. The secret? Core-focused, fat-blasting cardio blitzes coupled with muscle-defining strength sessions.

Optimally try to fit in five sweat sessions a week and cut 500 calories a day from your diet to shed about 2 pounds a week, including stubborn belly pudge! Can’t manage to find that much time? Fine! Think of doing half as many workouts while still eating 500 calories fewer a day—you’ll lose at least 1 pound a week. Use the firm-abs moves below to help you reach the magic number and melt away your middle. Add in two weekly strength sessions designed to reveal sexy muscles head to toe. Grab a pair of 5- to 10-pound weights, do two sets of these simple sculptors, and watch your pooch skooch!

Laziness is the disease that all of us suffer from. Laziness is a lack of desire to do pretty much anything that benefits a human being in a positive manner. Laziness is the opposite of productivity.

Laziness is procrastination which is basically delaying doing things until they become absolutely necessary. Here are a short list of habits that you should avoid if you want to achieve self control and make your life worth living again.

Stop watching too much TV!

Limit Facebook

Forget about MySpace and 5 million other social networking sites

Stop wasting time on Digg and Reddit

Stop staying up late

Stop over eating

Eating late

Eating too early (Like 3AM!)

Skipping breakfast

Rushing your meals

Neglecting to brush teeth

Neglecting to floss

Using Google for everything!

Neglecting a good night’s rest

Eating fried food

Picking your nose

Farting and burping in public

Careless attitude

Getting to work late

Getting to class late

Sleeping at meetings and classrooms

Eating out everyday

Writing a blog once a month

Not taking shower daily

Not taking a crap regularly- Yea. Some people don’t even do this because they’re too damn lazy!

Not exercising

Leaving work until last minute

Browse the Internet aimlessly

Over eating

No exercise

Smoking

Stop delegating - If you want a cup of water or the remote GO GET IT YOURSELF!

Stop driving and walk to short distances.

Stop finding shortcuts – Getting things done take time and effort. Taking shortcuts all the time is a lazy way out of doing hard work.

Don’t wait until the last minute in the morning before getting up and then have to rush to get ready for work or school.

Don’t leave anything until the last minute.

Not cleaning after yourself – There are so many people who use the bathroom but do not wash their hands after. Forget about #1, some people don’t even bother washing their hands after doing #2! Even worse than that, some people don’t even wash their arse when they take a dump. How disgusting can a person be if they don’t properly wash their arse or wipe properly?? This is sick and it bothers me.

Stop eating when not hungry!

I could go on but can’t think of anymore…I’m sure there are hundreds of other lazy habits that affects us negatively and create setbacks everyday.

The thoughts, ideas and concepts framed using the power of certain words can bring about amazing results, as some words are extremely powerful. It can create a winning message and have an emotional influence over readers mind. The right words can not only increase your sales but also create many new potential buyers dramatically.

It is a proved fact that whether the words are written or spoken, they have enormous power. You can do some research to find the power words or phrases that capture your attention. Then note down these words in your diary. If it captured your attention, there are more chances that they will hold peoples attention and invoke reaction in them. When time comes you can use power of your words to stimulate interest and drive profits.

When the power words are combined with the right message, you can get very good results. The difference of just few words can either pull in prospects or push them away. It is very important that you use the power of your words in headlines and content of your sales page because when the people visit your sales page you have about 10 seconds to grab their attention. If you cannot make it within that first 10 seconds, there is possibility that the visitor may leave your sales page.

10 ways to use power of your words to get amazing results:

Capture peoples attention.

Create a visual picture of the product.

Make your product description easy and understandable.

Invoke reaction in people.

Give reasonable solution to your prospects problem.

Offer hope for getting success.

Arouse the interest of the readers.

Motivate people to buy your products.

Cause an impact on the visitors.

Prove your creditability and Professionalism.

Finding the right words to communicate with your prospects is very much essential for the growth of your business, as it provides you with a powerful way to present the description of the opportunity or the products that you are promoting. Below are the 30 power words that you can use to increase your sales and sign ups:

Excellent, Reliable, Creative, Expert, Knowledge, Limited, Hidden, Special, Exciting, Important, Tested, Massive, FREE, Easy, Guaranteed, Magic, Secrets, Results, Discover, Confidential, Ultimate, Discount, Sale, Profitable, Urgent, Attention, Sensational, Successful, Powerful, Remarkable.

The reason why the word “FREE” continues to be one of the top selling words throughout the internet is that everyone loves to get something without spending anything. Some words are so powerful that they can elicit emotions and create visual pictures in your readers mind, sometimes to such an extent that they can induce people to laugh, to cry or even to buy.

Always use familiar words while sending a message to your business prospects, so that whatever message you want to put forth becomes clearer and easily understandable. Including the prospects name in your message, especially in the middle of the sentence, helps to boost the attention levels. If, people come to know that you have the right solution to their problems, automatically more and more prospects will be attracted towards you thereby making your online venture a successful one.

Just saw a nice article posted on Time.com. Obvioulsy over weight people have to work harder to lose and keep weight down but now a study is out on this topic. Obesity experts agree that daily exercise is essential for good health, but whether it can successfully lead to long-term weight loss is a question of much debate.

What has become increasingly clear, however, is that the conventionally accepted advice — 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity most days of the week — is probably insufficient to spur any real change in a person’s body weight. A study published July 28 in the Archives of Internal Medicine adds to the burgeoning scientific consensus: when it comes to exercise for weight loss, more is better. It suggests that obese people would have to exercise at least an hour at a time to see any significant difference in their weight.
